Traditionally known as a painting genre of Asia, silk painting is a delicate, graceful and gratifying process.
Participants will learn how to draw their outline set, after which they’ll be instructed in how to properly apply the paint to the silk. Once applied, the paint will spread out on the surface of the silk, which they can build up with layers of colour to create a unique and vibrant effect.
They will also learn key techniques how to prepare the silk itself for painting, how to add the gutta or resist which stops the dyes flowing into each other, and also how to mix the paints together that will enable them to get a variety of magical effects.
