Heritage objects in clay: hand-building workshop
In collaboration with Yadawei Ceramic Studio and Gallery
In this workshop, participants will be invited to select one of two objects to make incense (Bakhoor) burner, or a money jar. Using a combination of hand building techniques, the participants will be guided to make a replica of their chosen object.
This workshop comes in line with Once Upon Design: New Routes for Arabian Heritage exhibition, and it allows participants to explore the use of ancient techniques of making pottery. Everyone will be encouraged to improve on the traditional design of the object and make functional and/or aesthetic modifications to the object being made, using 3 basic techniques: pinching, coil making and slabs.
