Batik is an ancient art medium and methodology used for creatingdesigns, usually on cloth and usually used in clothing. It has enjoyed many periods of revival but in America it had its greatest heyday in the 60's. Batiking is a form of wax resist, a technique that is used in several well-known processes. One of the best examples of a particularly meticulous wax resist method is found in the folk art of Ukrainian Easter eggs. In this workshop, children will learn the batik technique and will design and create their own batiks. The teacher will show a sample of a crayon batik and demonstrate every step of the project for students.
