Monotype is a single printing of an image incapable of being identically printed again; the most common technique involves painting or rolling an image on glass or metal. Mono print is when just one impression is taken no matter what technique is usedIn this introductory workshop, participants will create various one-of-a-kind monotype prints starting with single color, single plate impressions and gradually moving on to incorporate multiple colors and various press passes. 
Introduce them to basic materials and practices used in most other printmaking processes in a more casual structure. 

What participants will learn in this course?

  • proper use and cleaning of printmaking paper, tools
  • basic color mixing
  • the fundamentals of print registration and how to create prints from single and multiple plates
  • to play with color, texture, opacity levels, ink layering, and multiple impressions in order to give added depth to printed work
