Maraya Art Centre will be exhibiting at Art16 for the second time, this year at the not-for profit section. Art16 is held at Olympia London from 20-22 May. Since its inauguration, it has become the highlight of the city’s cultural calendar, kicking off the summer season with a compelling edit of international artists and galleries from more than 30 countries around the globe.
The fair will present over 1,000 outstanding artworks from artists and galleries as far-flung as Senegal to South Korea, and Cuba to the Czech Republic, maintaining its unique commitment to showcasing exciting emerging talent alongside established contemporary artists. There is also a programme of free talks and expert-led tours and performances.
At Maraya’s stand, the international audience will be able to explore the many projects housed under the centre through meeting the curatorial team and browsing our catalogues and exhibition videos. We will also present a video installation Iteration and a performance Flood System by Walid Al Wawi, a UAE-based Palestinian artist, currently studying his Masters in Fine Arts at Central St Martins in London. Flood System will take place at the Maraya booth, NP2, 1-2pm, Friday 20 May, 2016.
Maraya Art Centre’s Director Giuseppe Moscatello will take part in the panel discussion ART & IDENTITY: Is all art global now? at Art16 at 3pm on Sunday 22 May, 2016. The panel will discuss today’s globalised art world and ask: In a networked environment, the periphery is the new centre, so does the art world need a radical re-structure?
